10 tips for relaxation by (Katrin Abrahamian)

1. BE CONSCIOUS OF WHERE YOU INVEST YOUR ENERGY

Be selective to who you choose to give your energy to. Be intentional. Always ask what is the ultimate goal of spending time with a person. Does the encounter fulfill you or are you feeling drained? This does not imply you have to be selfish, but be intentional.


2. PRAYER/MEDITATION

We are all in this world as spiritual beings. We are more than what meets the eye. We are all energy. We are a creation of a higher being so when we stay still, go within and pray or meditate, we can connect with that higher source.

Prayer is all about faith. To have faith that there is more than what we can see with our physical eyes right now. To release the need to control everything. To relax and have faith that life is always working out for our highest good.


3. CONNECTING WITH NATURE/ GROUNDING OURSELVES/ LIVING IN THE PRESENT MOMENT

Allocate time to go for a walk. When you do, go somewhere where there is grass, stand there, barefoot preferably by the roots of a tree. The roots of the tree and the feeling of the soil and grass under your feet will help you connect with nature. Hug the tree. Just like we create relationships between each other as humans, this is how I suggest you create a bond with nature. Take a deep breath, close your eyes and feel the energy below your feet. Trust that nature always has your back.

If you intentionally make time to do this, you will realize how relaxed you will feel.


4. ADDRESSING YOUR EMOTIONS/ BEING AWARE OF YOUR THOUGHTS

As life coaches, we are responsible for our own emotional environment. We need to do the cleansing work with ourselves so we can offer the best version of ourselves to others.

Keep track of any negative thoughts or feelings that you might feel creeping up in your mind and body. Discuss it with the group and make sure you iron them out quickly.

A well-managed mind will keep you relaxed and motivated.


5. EATING HEALTHY FOODS

By selecting to eat more salads, greens, vegetables and fruits we nourish our body and because these are nature’s foods, our body as natural beings respond positively to them.

You will feel you have more energy and feel more relaxed.


6. KEEP YOURSELF HYDRATED

Up to 60 % of the human adult body is water.

This means we need to drink water to keep our body hydrated. When our body functions well, we feel more relaxed and have the energy to carry on our day. We are in a good mood.

Water cushions the brain, spinal cord, and other sensitive tissues.

We love the work we do. This means we must take care of ourselves in order to be relaxed and give our 100%.


7. GET ENOUGH SLEEP- AT LEAST 6 HOURS

Sleep reduces stress, sleep makes us more alert, improves memory.

When we get enough sleep we feel refreshed and relaxed to accomplish our goals.


8. TO DO LIST

We all live busy lives. For this reason I recommend having a calendar or journal. Every night before you go to bed make a list of, what you wish to accomplish the next day. Do not overwhelm yourself with tasks for long term goals just yet. Concentrate on the immediate tasks at hand first, until you get in the habit of preparing a TO DO LIST every night.

This way our brain processes this information even in our sleep and you feel more relaxed when you wake up in the morning knowing exactly what specific tasks you need to tackle.


9. TIME MANAGEMENT

We all have 24 hours to spend in a day. What makes a difference is how you choose to spend the time you have available to you..

When you have good time management skills, you can become very productive and have spare time to have fun, kick back, and relax.

Think about how you manage your time when creating your TO DO LIST. Calculate how much time you will need for each task. It’s not enough to just write down a list of things to do. Good time management will keep you more relaxed.


10. LAST BUT NOT LEAST, HAVE FUN!

It’s true we need to work, provide, and help others. It’s also important to remember to also have fun! Have fun with life. Have fun while you work and when you are not working.

Letting your hair down ( responsibly of course) sometimes is just the thing we all need to feel relaxed and happy!
